19th August 2007 Windsurfing: Ynyslas Wind Direction: NW Wind Stength: 30-35 knots Surf / Sea State: 3-4 foot surf Air Temperature: 15ºC Sea Temperature: 16ºC Weather: Cloudy with some rain Max Speed: Distance Covered: Plenty of wind and the waves were bigger than they looked. I started off well and truly stacked with my 5m and JP Wave board, first run out I did a few nice little jumps and then a proper back-loop attempt, got all the way round but didn't land it. Steve and Impi then joined me and I noticed they were both on 4.2m sails and things didn't look quite so hectic for them so after a few more maxed out runs I came in and changed down to a 4.5m. Still nicely powered but the current was really strong and coming off in the whitewater meant it was difficult to get going again and the current took you down the beach as if you were in a river. Lots more runs out and back, the odd swim and walk back up the beach after getting caught in the current and some rests on the beach. The the wind eased off a little so we called it a day. proper autumnal conditions in August! |
